2. Positioning for Efficient Damage Application
A. Use the Environment to Your Advantage
Chokepoints: Find narrow spaces or Diablo 4 Items chokepoints where enemies are forced to gather in close proximity. This is ideal for AoE Burn Damage skills like Flame Wave or Fireball, as they’ll hit multiple enemies at once. Chokepoints funnel mobs together, letting your burning effects apply to multiple targets without them spreading out too far.
Elevated Positions: In some areas, you can take advantage of high ground for better positioning. The high ground can provide you with a vantage point to rain down Fireball or Flame Strike and catch enemies off-guard. Moreover, certain fire spells in Diablo 4 may benefit from higher vertical positioning (i.e., hitting more enemies).
B. Maintaining Range with Melee Burn Builds
If you’re running a melee Burn build (e.g., with a Barbarian or Druid), positioning becomes even more critical, as you’ll want to buy Diablo IV Items stay close enough to enemies to apply your fire effects but far enough to avoid being overwhelmed.
Keep Moving: Constant movement is essential in melee, especially with Burn Damage. After applying burning effects, position yourself to move around enemies, keeping them within range for damage over time while avoiding area-of-effect (AoE) attacks from bosses or elites.
Kiting for Burn Effects: If your build revolves around hit-and-run tactics (such as Flame Cleave or Incendiary Slash), use the terrain to your advantage. Apply burn damage and then move away, forcing enemies to follow you while they continue burning. This is especially useful in open areas where you can kite enemies into tight spots for continuous damage.
C. Keep Enemies Grouped
The effectiveness of Burn Damage increases when enemies are grouped together. With fire damage, you often rely on multi-target abilities to apply DoT effects across multiple enemies. This can be achieved by:
Pulling Enemies Together: Use crowd control (CC) abilities like Frozen Vortex or Grasp of the Dead to hold enemies in a clustered area, allowing your fire spells to target them more efficiently.
Drawing Aggro: With tanky characters like Barbarian, positioning yourself in the middle of the battlefield can draw enemies toward you, creating a dense cluster that maximizes your AoE burn damage effects.
