Shawn Hochuli will try his best next season. Hochuli’s son was named one of 12 new Madden NFL 24 administrators for the 2014 season.
Shawn Hochuli worked in the the Pac-12 Conference last season, as did the field judge John Jenkins, head linesman Patrick Turner and line judge Ed Walker. The fact that the greatest part of the new officials hail from Pac-12 is intriguing considering its less than stellar reputation. In 2011 the Pac-12’s officiating team was overhauled, and this past season , a Pac-12 staff was responsible for the highly-publicized mistakes in non-conference games that were played between Wisconsin and Arizona State, and Utah and BYU.
To be fair, the exact same crew worked both games, however, none of those officials will be making the leap into Madden NFL 24 this year.
There is no word yet when Hochuli will be allowed to participate in games alongside his father as an officiating side judge. Peter King raised the possibility to Madden NFL 24 vice president of officiating Dean Blandino two months ago, but Blandino was demur.
YAY ARON RODGERS: Rodgers threw five touchdown passes in the Packers’ victory on Monday Night Football. It was statistically one of the most memorable games in his long and storied career. He is a very good footballer.
BOO ALEX SMITH: Rodgers rival was not ready for him to pass the ball across the field until late in the game. He had happy feet against an admittedly formidable Packers attack. In short: Alex Smith was not good. Arrowhead Pride wondered why the Chiefs did not play Chase Daniel in the second period. Somehow, he improved after the horrendous intercept, but the questions are valid. The game of Monday might have been much different if the Chiefs offensive in the second half were to have been present during the first.
I’m not sure if that’s the correct dateline. Phoenix, Scottsdale and the other strips of strip malls and streets with six lanes are not in the same place, apart from the bucolic fitness trails and stucco villas that are tucked away inside the compound at the Arizona Biltmore where Madden NFL 24 the owners, general managers, coaches and other football technocrats are gathered for their annual meeting and golf tournament.
The lure of the fairway has to be patiently waited for. Owners and their employees have lots of things to consider. A few of these affect how the sport on the field is played and the way it is coached. The agenda also includes items focused on keeping America’s leading sports entertainment industry profitable and most importantly, it will be above the kind of public attention it received in the years since the last annual meeting.
The meetings officially started Monday morning, however the excitement began on the last night, with a keynote address by Mr. the Excitement himself David Brooks! It seems that the Madden NFL 24 is fascinated by Republican media apparatchiks. Last year, Frank Luntz was here giving helpful advice on semantics in strange shoes.
There are 13 options for changing instant replay. One proposal allows officials to use replay to resolve issues by adjusting the clock. Another proposal would require officials to review any penalty that could lead to the automatic use of the first-down.
Only two of the replay ideas listed are expected to gain any traction. The first, which was submitted by the Patriots, would allow coaches to challenge anything except the scoring of plays and turnovers, with the same amount of challenges as they currently do. The second, also from the Patriots is to put cameras on the boundary lines. ESPN added them to the college football playoffs. The cameras would be within the pylons. However, the Madden NFL 24 believes these could be too expensive.
It seems that Madden NFL 24 moves at the speed of a snail. It seems unlikely that owners will cut off the PAT completely, in the near future at least. There’s a proposal from the Patriots (activist Madden NFL 24 teams (smh) that would relocate the ball back towards the 15-yard line making it less automatic. The Colts plan to push for extra points that are really insane.
Los Angeles
Stan Kroenke has a fancy new stadium that he can sell his other owners this week. There are no decisions on the Rams (or the Chargers and the Raiders) relocation are expected. It’s going be the presentation of Madden NFL 24 exec Eric Grubman followed by a debate among the owners.
The Rams owner clearly has an advantage on the road to L.A., but the Chargers aren’t making it easy for the owner to win. This is a chance for the owners to begin working on a compromise where everyone benefits … everybody, excluding whichever city ends up losing the team.
Breakfast with the coaches
Every Tuesday morning, the AFC coaches are frog-marched into a breakfast buffet and they are required to speak to the media for about an hour. Lights and cameras surrounding Bill Belichick’s table will crowd out any slob sitting right next to him. The star still draws crowds regardless of the fact that he doesn’t say anything. There’s bound to be plenty of chairs at the table of Ken Whisenhunt however, and you can be sure he’ll enjoy the company.
