The Hogettes
One of the weirdest customs in the Madden NFL 24 The Hogettes are a group of crossdressers that appeared at Washington at home matches and were able to raise money to benefit charities. Their name as well as their suinae image are from The Hogs their impenetrable offensive line in those of the 1980s Skins teams that took home multiple Super Bowls. When the Hogettes ended their career in 2012. they made $100 million for them to donate money for the Children’s Miracle Network, Ronald McDonald House as well as March of Dimes.
J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets!
It is true that the New York Jets are hardly the only team to spell out its name in the form of a chant. Half the Big Ten has its own interpretation of the concept. But the Jets fandom cannot be severed with the images of the Fireman Ed encouraging the stadium-wide cheer. While he is no longer performing at games, the chant continues on.
Nowadays, I consider Southern California my home. While there’s a reason that Los Angeles market has been without an Madden NFL 24 club for more than two decades now, the locals believe a franchise will be coming to their door in the coming years. Most of the time, they’re open to any new franchise with welcoming arms. The only team with they have reservations is the Oakland Raiders. Why? Because the Raiders are home to the most frightening fans in Madden NFL 24. Decked out in unwieldy spiked clothing and with faces painted in black and silver They create the fear of their opponents even when the players on the field don’t.
Week 16 was not an ideal weekend in the world of Madden NFL 24 official officiating. There were the usual bad helmet-to-helmet calls (Panthers cornerback Josh Norman’s hit on Browns receiver Andrew Hawkins on the first play of the second quarter of their contest). There were some questionable out of bounds decisions (Vikings tight end Rhett Ellison’s touchdown/not touchdown before halftime should be an end-of-game touchdown). It was also shaky with unnecessary roughness calls made on tackles that were close to the sideline (seriously, Vikings linebacker Gerald Hodges made contact with Dolphins rookie receiver Jarvis Landry decidedly in bounds but was penalized after taking him to the ground). There was also a quarterback fumble ruled an incomplete pass without review (Big Ben’s hand appeared empty as hell in the face of Chiefs).
However, there was one sloppy call that was so offensive that I’m sure the referee who called it cannot be permitted to be in the vicinity of any playoff games. The offending call is the ridiculous taunting penalty called on Steelers cornerback William Gay after a particularly spectacular, unspectacular play made by Steelers middle linebacker Lawrence Timmons on third down.
Imagine this scenario, the Steelers had a lead of 17-6. in a must-win game at 12:39 at the end of the quarter. Their opponent they were playing, the Chiefs, was facing an uncontested third-and-17 at their 23-yard line. The Steelers Of course, they took advantage of the receivers, blocking everything deep and forced Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith to dump the ball in the short area and to the tight end Travis Kelce. Timmons was across the formation when he was in coverage however, he was able to get his hands on the ball and make a one-on-one tackle in the field in the open for an average of two yards. It might have appeared like the typical play given that it was highly unlikely that Kelce would gain enough yardage to get the first down. If you really look at the play, you’ll be able to appreciate just how fast Timmons was running and be able to gather himself and make a sure tackle. This is the exact opposite of routine or easy.
As I can be able to tell, one of them threw the flag because the thought was that Gay was mocking the Chiefs player when there was no Chiefs player in the vicinity. It was all because Gay was standing there holding his hands crossed. Dassit.
